What a great month!
We started the month celebrating the resurrection of out Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at a new church plant in Charleston, SC. We had a tremendous service. Three young men were in attendance for the first time. One of the young men cam back for the Wednesday night service and spoke with the Pastor and I for a good while before and after the service about what it meant to be saved. Each of these young men were clearly under conviction; please pray with us for their salvation.
THEN on April 16 we got an email we had been praying that we would receive on that day. It was an email from the Chilean embassy notifying us that we had been approved for our residency visa. They scheduled us to come to Washington D.C. on April 29 for the stamping of our visas.
We travelled to D.C. on April 28 so that we would be in town on the 29th for our morning appointment to obtain our visas and have them stamped. We decided to walk around and see some of the city before dark and while we were out site seeing we found a park that had lots of children playing and having a good time.
We decided to let our kids play and try to make some friends, and of course they did; very quickly. Erica and I started talking to a lady who was sitting on a bench by herself. Her name was Ethel and she was watching her grandson play. Ethel was a sweet lady. We asked if she was a believer and she assured us she was a born again Christian, but ask us to pray for her husband who was lost. I shared with her the testimony of my grandmother and how she stayed faithful to my grandfather and prayed for many years for him to be saved, before he was. Mrs. Ethel thanked us for encouraging her. Just before we left Erica told Mrs. Ethel that she and the kids would sing her song called “Gods Been Good” to try and encourage her a little more.
As Erica and the kids started to sing there voices filled the park and surrounding area and by the end of the first verse everyone had stopped what they were doing and gathered around to listen, Mrs. Ethel was encouraged and this gave me an opportunity to speak to some of the children and other parents about the Lord.
I’ll have to say that this was one of those most unusual and unique opportunities that the Lord has ever given us. We want to thank the Lord for all he has done for us. To God be ALL the glory!
Please help us pray for the following:
1. This week we are completing our packing and on May 08 loading our container to be sent to Chile. Please pray all goes well in the shipping process.
2. Safety as we will be traveling out west for our final meetings before we leave in June
3. For our set up fund. This is our most pressing need at this time. I have listed the top five things still needed on our website. We had $2400 given last month. The Lord knows what is needed and we are asking him to provide the remainder this month.
